Tatyana Cristina
Lisbon, 2001
Tatyana Cristina (Lisbon, 2001) is a visual artist currently living and working in Lisbon. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon in 2023 and has participated in several group exhibitions.
Tatyana's work is, at its core, a continuous exploration of painting as a means of expression and reflection. In her most recent works, the artist delves into abstraction, drawing from her visual memories and the fascinations or anxieties that inhabit her thoughts to shape an imaginative world that is surreal, ironic, and sometimes critical.
In the initial layers of paint, usually abstract in nature, forms begin to emerge, evoking landscapes, unexpected encounters, or references that are gradually revealed and emphasized throughout the creative process. In doing so, the artist incorporates fragments of images she encounters and collects in her daily life, giving rise to a complex and multifaceted visual narrative.
Each piece created by Tatyana is, therefore, a true investigation of identity, memory, and the constant dialogue between the individual and the world around them. By bringing together past and present, memory and daily experience, her works reveal emotional and reflective layers, inviting the viewer on a visual journey that challenges, provokes, and moves.
